Outside of Glacier park, this is the most breathtaking mountain range view in Montana. If you like history, stop at the Mission in St. Ignatius to learn how this area was settled. Continue north through the Nine Pipes bird refuge and then on to Polson. Just before you reach Polson stop at the overlook for Flathead Lake. This is your only opportunity to appreciate the full length of the largest fresh water lake in the western United States (29 miles long).

The shortest route is around the east side of the lake, so take a right turn at the bottom of the hill and head for Big Fork. There are several picnic grounds along the lake from which to enjoy this magnificent lake. If you haven't had lunch yet, stop in Big Fork. Eat, shop a little and pick up tickets for a performance at the Big Fork Summer Playhouse. Head north out of Big Fork. Turn North onto Hwy 206. Just before Columbia Falls, at the Big Sky Waterslide corner, you will turn north again onto Hwy 2. The signs will say "Glacier Park". Go thought Hungry Horse and onto Coram. The cabin is near Coram.
